Why choosing the right glass is so important
When it comes to designing, remodelling or updating your home, it seems obvious that you’ll think carefully about the ideal windows. You’ll want to ensure the colour and finish suits the feel of your home. But often, when people discuss windows, what they’re thinking of is the frame. How much time do you really take to think about the right glass for your home? Especially when that glass takes up around 70% of your window!
When you’re looking out of your windows into your beautiful garden, or gazing out at that country view, the glass will look the same; however, that doesn’t mean all glass functions the same.
At Elegant Windows, we use Planitherm to supply our glass, offering you three different types:
Energy Standard
As the name suggests, Energy Standard glass is all about offering you energy efficiency. Most of us are always seeking to reduce our energy bills, and Energy Standard glass can help support this. The special crystal clear, microscopic coating on the inner pane of this glass allows more light and heat into the room, capturing the warmth from natural daylight. It also stops 56% more internal heat escaping than older-style double glazing. Energy Standard glass is ideal for very sunny rooms.
Comfort
Comfort glass has been designed to help your room feel more, well, ‘comfort’able. In addition to offering all the benefits of Energy Standard, Comfort glass has a built-in transparent layer that makes it much tougher to break. Therefore, if you have concerns about security, this glass is ideal! Furthermore, this glass is Ideal for bedrooms or street-facing rooms because the layer also provides 20% better noise reduction than older-style double glazing, so you’re sure of a good night’s sleep – which we all know is invaluable. Lastly, if you’re worried about furniture fading, Comfort glass blocks 99% of the sun’s harmful UV rays, giving you peace of mind that your beloved items will have their colour looking as good as new for years to come.
Comfort Plus
Comfort Plus is an exemplary offering you all the benefits listed above, but also guaranteeing to reduce overheating. This makes Comfort Plus the perfect balance of light, warmth and comfort. All of these perks and you wouldn’t even know to look at it, for an invisible coating blocks out 50% of external heat from the sun while keeping in 63% more internal heat. Comfort Plus is therefore a great choice for your sunny south or west-facing rooms, or for larger glazed areas like bi-folding or patio doors. Comfort Plus will keep such rooms warmer in the colder months and cooler in the summer months to ensure you get extensive use of these spaces.
Hopefully now it is clear (excuse the pun…) that there’s far more to consider when choosing your windows than you may have originally thought! Why not design your own windows & doors online today with our interactive tool
